Peanut has no name yet and there are some truly awful suggestions including Tyronne. Nina tells us and Billie that Zara hasn't visited the bubs yet. Billie decides the volcano has not only screwed up the first part of our season but also causes her to miss much including where Nina stands with Patrick and Fitzroy Jesus, who had invited himself over to cook dinner - if he brings water and it later becomes wine, I'm calling the Catholic Church.
This whole volcano crap has really tested my patience Billie! |
Back at Billie and Mick's house we've got sheet changings with a side of slight fighty times, Billie being usually herself about having a baby and London loved up Andrew not being available and Mick not charmed it, as he used to be.
Supportive Patrick tries to help The Brother and seems to be in a better place, we know this by more smiling. Meanwhile Nina tries not to interfere but still pops into Zara's room and is uncomfortable/chatty and somehow feels weird arm yoga movements will encourage Zara to want to breast feed. It does nothing but remind us that there is big question mark over Nina's general professionalism.
Flustered, Nina heads to the Chris Havel Memorial Balcony to chill and spots Patrick staring broodily into the distance downstairs on a park bench, and then witnesses Billie approaches and Nina freaks out - with an extra dose of arm flapping.
All together now: Y, M, C, A! It's fun to stay at the... |
Billie confronts Patrick with her one word: piss weak. And then unloads in the most amazing awesome truth bomb ever. It's so Billie brilliance that we need to repeat it here:
Billie: You're a coward. The volcano's have many sides effects Patrick, one of which is that I've gained some perspective. I see you, being the supportive support person when it's suits you, you know showing up all the time with the family, being there for the Jimmy but as soon as things get a bit intense or maybe a little deep or challenging, you run a mile.
Patrick: What are you talking about Billie?
Billie: NINA! Yes, she is a ridiculous nuerotic, yes, she can be extremely painful to be around but she is also fantastic, and wonderful and you are piss-space-weak for not wanting to be with her because oh, she might want to get a little bit serious, maybe a bit long term even. You need to man up Patrick, you need to get over your past, your hangups and your man child tendancies and man-space-up.
Hey Broody McBrooderson, it's truth time now bitch! |
What? These soul searching eyes of love are too much? |
All of these images are required, as is the zoom in. |
Doc Martin hits up Cherie for some no condom baby making times and uses some interesting language to get there. Cherie is freaked out by this because apparently saying it out loud and declaring a non-jokey fashion that you want another baby, freaks you out when someone actually offers to help make it happen.
Mick is at the bar looking a little depressed for my liking and Billie suggests a date but Mick has rehearsal. Billie says maybe the universe is suggesting a chill out and not rush the baby time but just be happy. Billie meets Feisty Orange and it's weird and awkward and ends with a forehead kiss from Mick that says everything. Billie senses weirdness and returns for a spy session in which she sees Mick bonding with Feisty Orange's kid.
Beer and kisses! Not Feisty Orange moping. |
How do you like your loaves and fishes? Also PS I invited 5,000 |
We totally did; lots. Good luck matching that Fitzroy Jesus. |
You should have seen what positions we were in earlier! |
Mick arrives home late and Billie is semi-asleep and suggests a meet up with Feisty Orange. They do pash with intent to have sex, but the conversation prior is loaded with undertones and overtones and just general tones and the whole thing stinks as much as the giant ash cloud of plot device.
Doc Martin catches up with Patrick, checking that he didn't take the pain meds, cause that's a slippery slope and we're a little over that oddly referenced plot of the past.
Zara finally looks at iPhone footage of her baby who The Brother very sweetly suggests a name with A at start of the alphabet because of the rough alphatbet induced pain Zara was sure to have suffered. Also because it's a step towards her accepting Peanut.
Doc Martin presents Cherie with a cup of semen, but then she bails out on conceiving a sibling, indicating she wants fuck up the Proudman family some more by actually have Darcy be the Father of Baby 2 because you know, that won't be at ALL COMPLICATED! Seriously Cherie, what the fuck lady?
I kind of want to be in the show again, so I'm going crazy nuts. |
I need help bathing, any takers?! |
Great blog!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking that you might be right about Nina being pregnant (or at least having a pregnancy scare). Obviously you have the comment Billy made the other episode about her ‘big boozies’. But this episode, Billy did say that she was ‘glowing’. Granted she also basically linked it to her having a shag but still, given the promo for the next episode I think it is entirely possible the writers are going to go down that path. I am trying to think of what other twist there could be?
On another note, why oh why are Nina and Patrick not back together yet? I do like that Patrick got a taste of his own medicine being referred to as a colleague, and for once it was Nina shutting him down. However, enough is enough. I want it to be less about an over dramatised break up and more about the shit storm that will erupt when Mick cheats again. Yes that is right, I didn’t say if, but when…. Not to mention the show will hopefully look at Jimmy’s new role as a dad and how he *might* loose the Peter Pan syndrome.
On Adam, to me he is full on and borderline creepy. I would be quite put off by someone waiting at my doorstep with soup having not known them really…. However he does provide a reason for Patrick to get jealous... I hope that is his primary purpose, and to provide random off the cuff advise to Billy.
Now the long wait till next week *sigh*
Thanks Fee for the compliment. I agree that Adam is borderline creepy, but I do think that maybe the writer's could have fleshed him out a bit more - especially if we were to believe him an actual chance to win Nina over. Seriously, where are his friends? Family? Anyone?
DeleteFelicity, I love your recaps. The photo captions are my favourites. And like everyone, I just want Nina and Patrick to get it together. I hope you keep posting your recaps because I'll keep reading.
ReplyDeleteAwwh thanks Jenny - very kind of you to say. I will say, the photo captions are my favourite to write.
DeleteOMG FITZROY JESUS - GOLD GOLD GOLD!!!!
ReplyDeletewhoo hoo, just finished watching the episode so I will read your review - it was such a patchy one and whilst it ended strongly, I think Patrick's drunken behaviour was 1. hillarious 2. did I mention hillarious but 3. a bit too much of a stress. Loved billies line - like a cat who drops dead birds at your door. It has to be my line of the episode.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you only post recaps and no comments? I find it very interesting to see what you think about certain things that's all.
Gee didn't the iphone get major air time tonight. Along with Nina's car which seems to get more air time than some main characters.
Not much fiesty orange tonight :( I think mick over emphasised the shading or the lack of nuance from the script is letting the drama not achieve its usual resonance. I liked Billie peeping, but what she saw was not enough to build belief. I also didnt understand how she knew they had major chemistry on stage - this scene with Jimmy could have been a good one.
Why hasn't the ugly bearded man gone yet. I cannot take it. I dislike him so much, he has a major receding hair line and Patrick is sooooo much better.
Do you think semen in a jar was a first for prime time aussie tv?
Nina infuriation rating for this episode - 9 out of ten. It is really stupid how they are making the tension play out, its so annoying and just heavy handed painful and I don't know if I can hold on, god its so unrealistic. Just get with Patrick, the end.
Sorry Littlerain I didn't even realise there was questions in there - I was just enjoying your comments! Their my very own little recap joy! If you've got specifics, let me know, I'll try and answer?
Deleteoh and I thought of you when we saw more of Lord Patricks sexy rib tattoo, I thought ooooh here comes a screen shot for my collection - I am thoroughly relieved to see I haven't been let down. I agree with any poster that your photo captions are so great, sometimes funnier than the show, actually always funnier. You should definately get a gig on a tv blog, this is great stuff.
ReplyDeleteI normally anti-tattoo, but there is something about it that's so fitting to the character. His own personal barbed wire.
DeleteI'm wondering what I'll recap next when Offspring ends? I won't be touching Rafter 2.0 (aka Risky Business) with a ten foot poll.
Hmm you guys still think Nina is preggers - and I do agree the promo suggests something totally unexpected. What does she realise in the bath, that she hasn't had her period for months. Well, if she is then I must salute this blog, as I didn't think we would go there with the proviso that this is not a show in trouble, as I see that as a definate final season plotpoint. The glow was said tonight - and I did wince, but I am confident they wont make Nina have an invisible baby, and Alfie is filling a baby niche nicely. I have been really impressed with Jimmy and Zara's acting chops - I hope more fans like Jimmy a bit more now that he isn't being a total twit. My bet is on the season finale being about Fiesty Orange.
ReplyDeleteand I must correct the top poster (with love) that it was Fitzroy Jesus who said she was glowing and not Billie, just a minor deet.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad its not just me that wants more fiesty orange - screw the dinner with all of them, just give us what we want - a passive aggressive encounter between the two women of whom each thinks they have what Mick wants. I agree its not a question of if he cheats but when (great comment btw) I have finished reading your recap, and again it was wonderful. The point you made about the shirt, I think is to me enough proof that he is being used as a counterpoint to Patrick being the sexbomb. Did you notice none of Nina's fantasies were about getting on with FJ?
Also, I have a question for Felicity about The Brother - when did you demoniker him - I bet it was the tribal penis pain puller that did it. I am confident in Jimmy that he will win your heart. I am pleased Nasty Nurse is embracing her storyline, I thought it was post-partum depression slash avoidance, but it may just be an actual positive storyline about growth, the baby and them as parents - that would be nice. Although, I do love my Nasty Nurse moments, and do hope she is back to snarking about sore boobs and baby poop in no time at all. I love Kim too, she plays her scenes so well.
I am not even interested in Cherie getting pregnant again, it was a stretch last time and well, it's a little gross.
I don't think I've ever called Jimmy by his real name. In light of Season 1 and 2, I just can't. His storyline is what drove me away in the first place - the sleep centre antics, UH! But the past two eps are seriously edging him close to earning his name back. If he can make it to the end of the seasons without being a moron, then I might grant him his name back in full.
Deletelittlerain – totally agree with Nina being a 9/10 for infuriation. However Patrick and her seem to be taking it in turns this season. Going by that theory this coming week Nina will come to her sense and Patrick will be a jerk.
ReplyDeleteI think the fact that none of the fantasies included FJ (love the name btw) demonstrate the obvious point, that she isn’t into him (but perhaps in a weird way enjoying the leverage it has given her over Patrick??) EG: for once he is the insecure, jealous (dare I say needy) one.
In any case, I have been thinking what other twist could there be (if she is not up the duff?). I’m thinking some kind of fatality free accident (where perhaps they can both realise what they mean to each other). I did see someone speculate a drug overdose.. I really hope not.
Perhaps Billy’s inspired rant at Patrick will cause him to man-space-up! Now wouldn’t that be a twist and refreshing!!
Fee I was totally hoping that Billie's talk combined with his chat with first wife, would do the trick but sadly, this week's episode proves frustratngly no the case.
DeleteInteresting that in the MamaMia interview with the show creator, she mentioned that they're not sure for Season 4 but whatever happens, the finale has resolution.
